The Max Factor Award

The global make-up brand, Max Factor, honors one Swedish fashion designer every year during the Autumn/Winter Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with The Max Factor Award. A fashion show is one of the most important channels for a designer to reach her or his target audience, but also one of the most expensive. The Max Factor Award covers all the expenses of the show from models to lights and sound.

Ann-Sofie Back receives the Max Factor Award 2011

Ann-Sofie Back is the recipient of the 2011 Max Factor Award and is given the opportunity to show her BACK collection at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Stockholm on the 31st of January 2011. Back is awarded for her though-provoking approach to fashion and her unique ability to incorporate both high and low cultural references into her design.

The Max Factor Award is a fashion scholarship established in 2008 by the global make-up brand Max Factor. The award is intended to showcase cutting edge Swedish fashion and support Sweden’s progressive designers, ensuring that the most creative Swedish brands show their collections at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The winner of the award is given the opportunity to hold a high quality catwalk presentation to showcase their latest collection. The award is presented at Berns on January 31st as part of Max Factor’s sponsorship of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Ann-Sofie Back is the fourth designer to receive the award. Previous winners have been Lovisa Burfitt (2010), Diana Orving (2009) and Helena Hörstedt (2008).

Ann-Sofie Back has during her long career displayed an incredible breadth as a designer, and continuously challenged the current fashion establishment in both her progressive and more commercial endeavors, says Elisabeth Hagelberg, Sales & Marketing Director for Max Factor Sweden.

Ann-Sofie Back will show her Back Collection on the first day of the week. As always the BACK collection updates and develops ideas and concepts from Ann-Sofie Back’s main line, and this season presents a more mature and strict collection. The silhouette is long and lean with a minimalistic look in muted neutrals with the odd us of bubblegum pink, mauve and jade.

With the Max Factor Award we are once again given the opportunity to show BACK in Stockholm which is very exciting, especially since I recently moved back to Sweden. I have worked together with Max Factor’s make-up artist Tomas Lenneryd before and am looking forward to working with him again, says Ann-Sofie Back.
