The winner 2011 is Johanna Pihl

With an impressive sense for handicraft and detail, the winner has created a powerful and contemporary collection. Using highly technical finishes, human anatomy meets subterranean architecture, the result of which makes you both curious and eager to see more of this talented designer. The winner of the Mercedes-Benz Young Fashion Industry Award 2011 is Johanna Pihl

”My ambition is to create garments that maintain a sharp and sophisticated edge. I like to design pieces that present contrast in both silhouettes and textures: Showing an edge, yet chic, feminine with masculine undertones, loose yet fitted. ”

”I believe this contrast is what creates modern yet timeless and intriguing silhouettes. Fabric manipulation, handcraft in tailoring, details and finishing’s are all very important to my work, as it is with this high technical finish that, what I believe creates a sleek and strong look.” - Johanna Pihl
